Oil Prices Drop 3% After Trump Says Iran Killing Has Stopped
Oil prices tumbled 3% on Thursday as geopolitical tensions eased following President Trump's remarks that the 'killing has stopped' in Iran. Brent crude settled at $64.63 per barrel, while WTI dipped to $60.23, reversing earlier gains fueled by fears of U.S. military intervention.
The market had rallied earlier in the week after TRUMP threatened action and ordered evacuations from a Qatar base. However, the president's latest comments, citing 'very important sources' in Iran, calmed markets. U.S. crude inventories rose 3.4 million barrels last week, exceeding expectations, while Venezuelan oil returned to markets with its first U.S. sale since sanctions eased.
